Crazy? I was crazy once. . . .

{NOTE: this is in character backstory to Donald Crane, my Legends of Darkness alt}

What is the nature of madness? It is not a snapping of the mind. You dont break down. Madness is when your brain has had enough and a little thought pops in asking if there is room for one more. They say I am crazy, that I dont know what I am doing. But who are they to judge? Just because I fight along the zombies and turn my axe on breathers does not mean I am mad. I have seen the fools trample each other for a can of fuel. I am the mad one?

I remember it all. Or I think I do. Maybe its just the clown. I wasnt even supposed to be here. One vacation in 20 years, I take one damn vacation and pick Malton of all places. As rough as Jamaica got, atleast it never snowed! But its ok, the clown comforts me now.

Those bastards in Norsefire grabbed me. Not even English but I am black and I am gay and that makes me a threat to Mother England. They injected me and I got the rot. They didnt mean that. Stupid experiment blew up in their face. Now I cant die. Darkness consumes me and it makes me stronger.

At first I lost it. I was confused. I was afraid of the Darkness that came into my mind. I laid curled up on the floor of my cement cell and weeped. The middle child of those Roman rooms. I dont know how long I laid there. There was a explosion. Two rooms up. There was fire. Screams and gas. Then nothing.

Then came the clown.

Can you see him now? He's here, in my head. He makes me laugh. He picked me up and carried me out of that cell.

I tried to be normal, I really did. I did what was right. I put on a firmans badge once again and found fellow firemen. Zombies ran all over and I kept the barricades up.

Then I saw it.

The Cross of Lorraine.

A Officer had it in his badge.

How could I be so stupid?

I thought the zombies got them. But they live on. They hide under official sounding names. "Department of Emergancy Management" sounds so comforting? It hides the truth so well.

Norsfire still is amongst us.

And they shall pay.

I killed that officer.

The clown laughed with me.

Please laugh with us?

I'm not really mad.

Just angry.

And sad.

But they will pay.

By my axe they will pay. The zombies are not the enemies, the zombies are our friends. They eat the Norsefire filth where they can be found. And I will help.

By my axe.

And by the clown . . .
